The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger About Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Changes

Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
