Separately, a flourishing trade exists on Telegram, where communities with thousands of members share “before and after” photos, administration instructions and assertions of rapid British shipping. Vendors promote the drug there before directing customers to other platforms for transactions.

Retatrutide is an investigational injection created by US drugmaker Eli Lilly. The drug affects three intestinal hormones – glucagon-like peptide-1, GIP and glucagon. Early trials suggest it could assist patients reduce up to a quarter of their body weight. Nicknamed the “triple G”, the drug is being promoted online as the next Ozempic.

Medical Professionals Express Concerns

When questioned whether the product was authentic, one vendor said: “You can’t be sure.” Another provided a image of a supposed testing documentation. None inquired about weight, medical conditions or previous experience.

Inside these communities, messages display dark colored packages with postal service labels, claiming to contain new batches. One message stated: “It took eight of us to load them this morning.”

Buyers can choose between dry substance containers, prepared at home with purified liquid, or pre-filled injectors typically priced at 160 pounds for 20 milligrams. When asked how much time a pen should last, vendors give conflicting responses varying between a few weeks to “depends on your body”.

A representative for Telegram said it regularly monitored dangerous material on its platform including content that encouraged the “misuse of controlled medications”. The organization noted that it removed “millions of pieces of harmful content each day”.

“People are administering materials they cannot confirm. Even if the science behind this drug is sound, these digital versions may not contain what they claim,” stated a pharmacy expert, the head of pharmaceutical services at a pharmacy service.
